CEMC Makes Recommendations for Record-Low Temps

With record-low temperatures coming in across Middle Tennessee this evening, the power demand is expected to be very high through Wednesday morning. During high-demand times, TVA and CEMC recommends that members do what they can to reduce their power consumption.

Because small changes can make a big difference in keeping the system reliable for everyone, it is recommended that members:

• Lower your thermostat to 68°F when home.

• Set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise.

• Use natural sunlight to warm your home during the day.

• Delay running large appliances like washers and dryers.

• Lower your water heater temperature to 120 degrees.

• Avoid using heaters that run continuously.

• Unplug electronic devices that are not in use.

• Wear additional layers to bundle up and stay warm.
