The Sycamore Knights basketball teams opened their 2022-2023 season at home on Tuesday, October 25.
Facing the Coopertown Middle School Eagles, the Lady Knights dominated the court, securing the 29-12 win against the neighboring team. Seventh-grader Sophie Head put up eight, and eighth-grader Lacey Kimbrough put up seven.
The junior varsity girls also shut down the Eagles 44-2. Frankie Gwyn (6th), Danica Smith (7th), and Sarah Kate Jacoway (7th) had eight apiece.
The varsity boys' team also secured the season-opening win against the Eagles, 41-21. Eighth-grader Mac Gagnon scored 14 points, and seventh-grader Jack Galbreth put up 10.

The Knights took the court again on Thursday, October 27, in an away game against the Jo Byrns Red Devils.
Head led the varsity girl's team with with 13 points to help secure their nail-biting 29-26 win over the Devils; Kimbrough contributed eight.
The junior varsity girls also secured a 31-10 win, with Gwyn boasting 13 points.
The varsity boys, however, struggled to keep up the momentum they had earlier in the week, falling to the Red Devils, 50-35. Eighth-grader Carter Wallace contributed 12 points, and Gagnon had six.
Next up for the Knights: November 3rd @ Charlotte; November 7 @ home against Harpeth.
