
After an incredible 13-0 regular season record, the Pleasant View Christian School Middle School Lady Warriors carried their momentum into the TSIAA Division I State Championship game against an undefeated Franklin Christian Academy.
Coming off of a spectular regular season, the players and fans entered the championship game with high expectations, knowing it would be their toughest match-up yet. From tip-off to the final buzzer, the game lived up to the hype. Although the Lady Warriors maintained the lead throughout, the game remained close, with the lead staying between one and three points into the fourth quarter. In those last crucial minutes, the Lady Warriors remained focused and worked together to secure the victory 43 - 36.
Hollyn Carney (8th grade) – the team’s top scorer – contributed an outstanding 15 points and 10 rebounds, leading the way for the Lady Warriors. Elle Carr (8th grade) also played an exceptional game, adding 12 points and 8 rebounds. Annabelle Bagwell (7th grade) also contributed 10 key points and seven rebounds in the memorable state matchup.
On the defensive end, Nellie Frame (8th grade) and Stephanie Sober (8th grade) set the tone for the game’s defensive strategy, creating an atmosphere of pressure that contributed to the Lady Warriors’ success by containing FCA’s top two scorers. Their tenacious efforts were pivotal in securing the win.
“This group of girls showed up every day to practice ready to work," said Head Coach Lindsey Rojas. "They were all coachable, whether they needed to make quick adjustments or learn something on the fly. Whatever I asked them to do, they did it with everything they had. I’ve had a blast watching them grow and believe in each other. They are encouraging and each other’s biggest cheerleaders. They’re a special group, and I’m proud to have been able to coach them!”
In addition to taking home the trophy, Hollynn Carney was named the Tournament MVP, and Annabelle Bagwell received Star Player of the Game. The Lady Warriors finished the overall season with an impressive 15-0 record!
