The Cheatham County School District has named Robyn Miller as the new Assistant Director of Schools.
Miller, who currently serves as the principal at Sycamore Middle School, will begin her new duties July 1.
She will replace Stacy Brinkley, who will take over as Director of Schools following the retirement of current Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck.
Miller, a graduate of Jo Byrns High School, received her bachelor’s degree in education from Austin Peay State University and her master’s degree in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Miller has been in the education field for 29 years – all at SMS.
While at SMS, she taught fifth and eighth grades and served as an instructional assistant principal/instructional coach. She was the school’s assistant principal from 2009-2017 and was named principal in 2017.
“I want to thank everyone for this opportunity. I am truly honored and humbled to be selected as part of the district’s leadership team. I look forward to working with the Central Office team, School Board, school administrators, teachers, families and the community as we continue our focus on academic excellence,” Miller said.

Miller added: “It was a very difficult decision to leave Sycamore Middle School after 29 years, but the school will always hold a special place in my heart. I will cherish the memories made and relationships formed during my time at the school.”
She continued: “When applying for this position, I asked myself, ‘What kind of legacy will I leave behind in education?’ I want to leave a legacy that is impactful like the one that former Sycamore Middle School principal Dianne Williams left during her longtime career in Cheatham County. She has been a great mentor and friend.”
Incoming Director of Schools Brinkley said Miller will be an asset to the district in her new role.
“Robyn has worked her entire career in our district, so she clearly understands our mission and vision. Under her leadership, Sycamore Middle School has consistently been named a Level 5 school by the Tennessee Department of Education – the highest level a school can achieve for student academic growth. Robyn has a proven record of fostering student success and building collaborative teams, and we trust that will continue in her new position,” she said.
The district will begin the process to hire Miller’s replacement at SMS.
