Obituary: Harold Bell

Harold Bell was born April 15, 1943, to the union of Maryland Bell, Sr. and Effie Teasley Bell in Charlotte, TN. He was one of eleven siblings which seven preceded him in death, Betty Rose Collier, Imogene Hollingsworth, Emmitt Bell, Sr., Irene Bell, Charlie Bell, Jim H. Bell and Erline Bell. He went from labor to reward on the morning of October 24, 2022. He gained his wings to take flight and take his rest with our heavenly father.

Harold received his education in Dickson County, was a graduate of the historic Hampton High, Class of 1922, and proudly served with the United States Marines from June 3, 1964, to March 6, 1970. He married Glenal Bell in 1966 and with this union, there were two children, Matthew Bell and Cynthia Hollingsworth. Glenal and Matthew also preceded him in death.

After the death of Glenal, Harold married Ada Pearl Gordon Bell. Harold was a hardworking man, working at State Stove, CEMC and Midway Supply for 45 years without missing a paycheck. He sold scrap iron, barbecued and did anything to make a solid living. Church, Family, and the Community were a priority for him. Harold was the President of NAACP for years and worked to upgrade and enhance the living conditions socially and economically for the citizens of Dickson County and surrounding areas. He was labeled as a trailblazer for Lone Star Lodge #15, laying the foundation and blueprint used today by the men of that lodge.

His mark has truly been left in the world. Harold leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Ada Pearl, devoted daughters, Cynthia (Timothy) Hollingsworth, Loway (Don) Goree; son, P. Rocky (Michelle) Gordon; grandchildren, Jyrod (Felicity) Bell and Aaron Bell; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Javon, Abreea, Annalese and bonus great-grandchild, Carter Hannah; sisters, Mary Ramey and Patsy (George) Spicer; brother, Maryland Bell, Jr.; sisters-in- law, Edna Dotson, Geneva (Frank) Bryant, Rebecca (Ricky) Dotson, and Anita (Robert) Blue, Jr.; brother-in-law, Carl Lee Bell; devoted friends, Don Walker, Darnell Ramey, Billy O.
