Recap: Local High School Wrestling

On Monday, January 20, 2025, Sycamore High School hosted the annual Ariel Rojas-Avila Memorial Wrestling Tournament.


Of the 17 teams competing in the boys division, Sycamore earned 6th place. Tournament placers for Sycamore: David “Zaden” Parker (4th at 113 lbs), Brendan Monroe (1st at 120 lbs), Noah Peppard (1st at 144 lbs), and Michael “Colton” Long (1st at 165 lbs). 


Cheatham County Central High School did not have any boys competing in this tournament. 


Of the 15 teams competing in the girls division, Cheatham County Central High School earned 7th place. Emma Reeves placed 1st in the 107 lbs weight class for the Lady Cubs Wrestling program. 


Sycamore High School did not have any girls competing in this tournament. 

 

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Sycamore hosted a quad (4-team) dual tournament with Brentwood Academy, Nashville Christian, and Pope St. John Pual II Preparatory Schools as part of Sycamore’s Senior Night. Sycamore lost to Brentwood Academy and Pope St. John Paul II before beating Nashville Christian. The duals scores were Sycamore 23/ Brentwood Academy 59; Sycamore 9/ Pope St. John Paul II 66; and Sycamore 41/ Nashville Christian 18.

Sycamore Seniors (Noah Peppard and Saif Al-Ipyden) were recognized for their wrestling achievements. Peppard went 2-1 on the evening wrestling 150 and 157 lb weight classes. Al-Ipyden went 2-0 on the evening wrestling 175 lb weight class. 

 

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Harpeth High School hosted the District 14 Team Duals. The teams competing in the District Duals were Cheatham County Central High School, Fairview High School, Montgomery Central High School, and Creek Wood High School. Cheatham County lost to Fairview, 37 to 38. Montgomery Central defeated Creek Wood 60/17. Fairview defeated Montgomery Central in the final dual of the evening, 47 to 28.
