In their first competition of the 2022-23 season, the Sycamore High cheerleading squad began what they call "the road to nationals." The ladies from Pleasant View traveled to Blackman High School to compete against Riverdale High and Centennial- recent state and national championship teams.
Starting their journey off right, the War Eagles proudly proudly took home the second-place trophy.
"We were very excited to receive second place behind Riverdale," says Coach Debbie Burnett.
Next up for the War Eagles cheerleaders is the TSSAA State Cheer Competition scheduled for this coming weekend at MTSU.
While the team had to change up their routine due to recent injury, the girls adjusted easily and are working hard in their preparations, Burnett says.
